The following poems were published in the South Dakota Poetry Society publication "Pasque Petals"
Your world is purple, heavy.
Sliding into black,
like watercolors made from plow dirt.
A swirling ink that
stains dandelions
and kernels still soft on the cob.
My world was yellow, light.

Softness of decay
Stripped ash melts across the bank
The circle begins
-Kia Adams
Frogs disappear, undetected
Like a swarm of shy ghosts slipping into another room
Their song, not fading
But breaking abruptly
As I pause ever so softly, ever so lightly
Like a stranger in someone else's house
